《Stainless steel, Daydreams》, 《Your dreams my nightmares》, 《Helden sterben nicht》는 Death and rebirth 주제로 실험한 3부작 아트북이다.
사진과 그래픽, 페인팅을 재구성하고 분해하여 새로운 이미지를 실험한 책이다.
한국을 떠나 바라본 삶과 죽음에 관한 풍경들. 각각의 사진은 그래픽, 드로잉과 섞여 내가 느낀 삶과 삶 속에 언제나 숨어있는 죽음을 표현한다.
1. 작년 두 번의 죽음을 경험했다. 모두 슬퍼하는 가운데 나는 그들을 건조한 눈으로 바라보았다. 그냥 피곤하고 배가 고팠다. 주변 사람들의 문자에 답장하지 않게 되었고 그들의 생일도 잊어버렸다. 문득 나는 내가 꿈도 두려움도 행복도 느끼지 못하고 그저 살아지고 있다는 생각을 했다. 그러는 와중 내가 사랑하는 식물들은 하나씩 죽어 나갔고 온종일 집에 혼자 남겨져 있던 고양이는 밤새 울어댔다.
2. 유럽에서의 짧은 생활은 매우 눈부시고 차가웠다. 날카롭지만 부서질 것 같았다. 스테인리스 스틸 위에서의 짧은 꿈처럼.
«I’m going way down south. Way down where I can be free. Ain’t no one gonna mess. She ain’t gonna put a rope around me. Hey, You better run on down.»
《Stainless steel, Daydreams》, 《Your dreams my nightmares》, 《Helden sterben nicht》 are a trilogy of art books that experiment with the theme of death and rebirth. Photographs, graphics, and paintings are reconstructed and deconstructed to create new images.
Scenes of life and death from my travels. Each photo is mixed with graphics and drawings to express the life I felt and the death that is always lurking in life.
1. I experienced two times of death last year. While everyone was grieving, I looked at them with dry eyes, just tired and hungry. I stopped replying to texts from people around me and forgot their birthdays. Suddenly, I realized that I had no dreams, no fears, no happiness, and was just living. Meanwhile, my beloved plants were dying one by one, and my cat, who was left alone in the house all day, cried all night.
2. My short stay in Europe was blinding and cold. It was sharp but brittle. Like a daydream on stainless steel.
