디자이너, 일러스트레이터, 영상 제작, 작가 등 다양한 직업으로 이루어진 이들은 별개의 목적을 가지고 작업을 하고 모인다.

홍대 앞에서 철거를 예정 중인 반지하 자취방에서 열린 별개의 별것 두 번째 전시인 책거리는 사라질 학교 앞 원룸을 전시장으로 바꿔 이루어졌다. 젠트리피케이션으로 인해 사라질 원룸과 인생의 변곡점 위에 서 있는 참여자의 모습을 대변한다.

참여자는 각자 하나의 텍스트를 선정했고 작품이 텍스트로부터 결과물로 연결되는 과정을 추적했다. 이를 ‘책거리*’ 풍습과 각자 읽은 텍스트를  작업으로 표현했다.

*책거리
한국의 풍습. 옛날 서당에서 글을 가르칠 때 학동들이 책 한 권을 다 배우고 훈장에 대한 감사의 표시로 간단한 음식과 술 등을 마련하여 대접하 작은 행사를 말한다. 그리고 책 하나를 다 배웠을 때 뿐만 아니라 동료 학생의 책을 빌려 책 한 권을 필사하기도 했는데, 그 책을 다 필사하고 나서도 책을 빌려준 학생에게 감사하는 뜻으로 책거리를 했다.

별개의 별것 is a group of alumni who majored in visual communication design at Hongik University who come together to show their work. They are designers, illustrators, videographers, writers, and other professionals, and they work and gather for different purposes.

책거리(Chaekgeori)*, the second exhibition of 별개의 별것, was held in a semi-detached house in front of Hongdae University, which is slated for demolition. Each participant selected a text and traced the process of connecting their artwork from the text to the outcome.

*Chaekgeori
Korean custom in which, when teaching writing in an Seodang(school), students were given a small ceremony with simple food and alcohol as a sign of gratitude for learning a whole book. In addition, not only when they finished learning a book, but also when they borrowed a fellow student’s book and transcribed a book, but even after they finished transcribing the book, they held a Chaekgeori to thank the student who borrowed the book.
